Hispanic Health Initiative
Hispanic Health Initiative at TCU is a student-led organization dedicated to reducing language barriers in healthcare by teaching students practical Medical Spanish and culturally competent patient communication. Through interactive meetings, members of all Spanish proficiency levels will learn skills such as basic triage, medical history taking, medical terminology, and anatomy, with the goal of helping future healthcare professionals communicate more effectively and increase comfort for Spanish-speaking patients. Members who feel prepared to apply these skills will also have opportunities to serve Spanish-speaking communities through partnerships with local organizations. These opportunities may include assisting with Spanish-language women’s health presentations at Mercy Clinic, participating in Healthy Brain educational talks at NICA, translating educational materials, and supporting other community health initiatives throughout Fort Worth.
